Roberts Regional Park is truly an enchanting spot to plan your wedding. For starters, the outdoor ceremony site is surrounded by tall, majestic Redwood trees and lush, vibrant greenery.
Also, this park has a captivating, ethereal, fairytale-like ambiance that you’ll notice the moment you set foot in it. The park might just be the perfect location for your wedding if you want to exchange your “I do’s” in a serene atmosphere in nature, and you know you would love to have a dreamy forest setting as your backdrop.
I had the chance to photograph M + N’s celebration at Roberts Regional Park, and I always love it when I get the chance to photograph celebrations where the couple puts their own spin on their day, and that’s exactly what M + N did!

Margot + Nate’s Whimsical Roberts Regional Park Wedding
Here’s a behind-the-lens look at M+N’s beautiful wedding honoring Jewish tradition in Roberts Regional Park:
The Wedding
Margot and Nate planned a fun, colorful spring wedding at Roberts Regional Park that was a joy to photograph. The best way I can describe the theme of their wedding was “botanical earthy vibes,” which honestly fit perfectly with this time of year.
To bring this theme to life, they included vibrant wildflower colors in their floral arrangements, Margot’s wedding dress had beautiful appliques/silk flowers, and their Chuppah had a mesmerizing knit lace pattern and crocheted flowers.
Everywhere you looked, different eye-catching colors that beautifully blended with the ceremony site.
Their day started with Margot arriving at the park with a handful of her closest friends for a peaceful, grounding ritual, which I thought was incredibly special that Margot chose to include in their day.
After the ritual, Margot and Nate shared a beautiful, emotional first look in the woods, which was the perfect spot, as it was intimate and private, and the lighting was perfect for photographing this moment.

The ceremony
Before the ceremony and their other guests arrived, Margot and Nate first assembled/decorated their chuppah together with their families to symbolize the two families officially merging.
They also had a Ketubah signing with close family and chosen family before the ceremony began. This was such a beautiful way for both families to spend meaningful quality time with the bride and groom before the rest of their day unfolded.
For their ceremony, Margot and Nate entered from different parts of the forest, then met at the start of the aisle to walk down it together. I love that they did this, as I don’t see couples do this very often. Their ceremony honored their Jewish heritage, with them incorporating different Jewish wedding traditions into this moment.

The reception
After the ceremony, we grabbed a few more photos in the park before heading to their reception site at Nido’s Backyard. By the way, you could also choose to have a picnic reception at one of the park’s picnic sites if that’s more your vibe and you don’t want to leave the park. A picnic reception is a great (and fun) alternative to try!
This was such a beautiful wedding with thoughtful, unique touches that were special to the couple, and I’m so grateful I got to be a part of it!

Background on the couple
Margot and Nate are both transplants in the Bay. Margot is originally from Arizona but moved around a lot. Margot found their way to the Bay through an urban farming program, and Nate is originally from Michigan but now works in the Bay as a teacher.
After meeting on Tinder 5 years ago, they were ready to take the next step and got engaged in Yosemite last fall. They have always bonded over their love of nature and general stillness, so having a Roberts Regional Park wedding really was the perfect way for them to incorporate the things they love into their wedding day.
When they were looking for wedding photographers, they really wanted someone who could capture the true feelings and emotions of their wedding day. They wanted photos that not only looked good, but that showed the warmth and connection they have as well as the grounded and authentic moments throughout the day.
Overall, they wanted their wedding photos to be fun, colorful, whimsical, and natural, and that is exactly what we were able to capture. Not only that, but you can also feel the love and connection that they have with one another, as well as each one of their guests.
This was truly such a special day to be a part of, and I think the location at the park with a relaxed and fun reception to follow at Nido’s Backyard just made it that much better. Sometimes the simplest things can create the most beautiful moments, and that is exactly what was created for these two!
